Jane sleeps. She wakes up. She goes to school. She comes home. She looks at Johnny Pancake.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou gonna throw that out?\u201d Martin asks. He\u2019s her brother. Well, her adoptive brother. Well, the guy who found her in the pantry. Really, there is no good way to summarize their relationship.<\/p>\n
\u201cNo,\u201d she says. \u201cSilly! That\u2019s Johnny Pancake.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cNo?\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cHe\u2019s not going bad,\u201d Jane says, \u201cso I won\u2019t eat him.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cHmm,\u201d Martin says. He pokes at Johnny Pancake. \u201cLooks pretty bad to me.\u201d<\/p>\n
But he shrugs. He takes down the potato pancake food. He tosses the box to Jane. Then he goes off to his room to do whatever it is boys actually do.<\/p>\n
