I would say that the proviso \u201cfor a human\u201d no longer applies. She is now quite good at origami,  abstractly. I think if she\u2019d ever met Death, Cheryl would have folded him; and if she\u2019d folded against the Devil, well, I wouldn\u2019t have wanted to bet on either one.<\/p>\n<p>She can take the air and she can fold it into a flower. She can fold a paper army into life.<\/p>\n<p>But she can\u2019t kill the paper serpent.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s got too much of Hans\u2019 work in it. To make his twist endure \u2014 to ensure that the serpent never got out from under him \u2014 he\u2019d had to use an immortal and unlimited trick. The mechanism of its torment sustains it: it cannot die for to die is to escape Hans\u2019 prison.<\/p>\n<p>She tries to kill it. She can\u2019t kill it.<\/p>\n<p>It is too well-woven.
